This exhibition features 36 caricature works by myself and good pal, Mick Hollinworth. Also, many stunning floral designs by the amazingly talented Kate Knight.

I'm a right lazy bastard, no posts since October???, I should be ashamed!

Since my last post the highlights have been, changing the odd nappy, getting engaged, watching the whole US office season 1-5 back to back, grown my hair long, had a haircut, learned the difference between a ninky nonk and a pinky ponk, lost a stone and half, gained a stone, blah, blah, and some other normal stuff.

I know, what you really want to know is, Craigis, when are you gonna get that pencil out agin? Well, I'm gona breathe some life back into this old blog shortly, for sure.

Some new artwork and details of another exhibition for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to follow shortly.

Mikey - Big Brother UK

Every year I sit and cringe waiting to see who the biggest misfit the Big Brother producers can find to bang in the house to represent our fine Nation. I swear, these guys must've scraped the deepest depths of Scotland's mental institutions to find some of our past contestants. I mean Shabbaz??? C'mon now!
This year they opted for some wee pug nosed mincey queen who, of course, disgraced himself and was booted out after a week or so for spitting!!!! at another contestant. Again, another kick in the scrotum for Scottish Pride!
There is thankfully an exception to the rule this year, in the form of Mikey, a blind, cross dressing, stand up comedian. I bet Billy Connolly is "wee beige jobying" himself!

Ok, so the regular blog update thing hasn't gone to plan.

I have a girlfriend thats about to give birth within 2 weeks and a home to decorate, so to the 3 regular followers of this blog, I apologise. As you can guess, I've had about as much spare time as an Austrian electrician. (is that too far?)

Back to the point, I said in my last blog post that I was going to give up the digital stuff for a bit. As it goes, all good in theory, but not so in reality. Truth is, my turnout isn't so hot without being attached to a Wacom tablet.

Over at the National Caricature Network , Bearded Belgian caricature guru, and all round nice guy, Jan Opdebeeck runs a monthly contest. Last month's subject was Matt Damon and the only rule is, that there is no digital input. "Great" I think. I'll fire in a reasonable entry... WRONG! For starters I posted a pencil sketch which I won't show here as it's as no more fun to look at as Vanessa Feltz in a 2 piece string bikini.

I scanned in the pencil sketch and after a couple of hours I came up with this digi painting done in PainterX

"not too bad" I think, " I can paint that no probs"

Soooo .......

Ok, I admit, not so good.... yet!

This was mainly done with Photoshop CS and some of the finer detail was in PainterX. I need work on the hair a bit more, looks a bit crap just now.

I'm gonna try to lay off this digital stuff for a while and concentrate my efforts into painting with traditional materials again. Digi stuff is real fun to do but there's nothing more rewarding than having an actual tangeble canvas to hang up(or sell) when you're finished. My trouble is that I can't match the standard of the traditional to the digital, so I usually get frustrated and revert back. Only way to get better is stick at it I guess!

I've got an acrylic painting of Noel Gallagher on the easel just now, seems like its been on there forever. Should be finished within the next few days so I'll fire it on here at my soonest.

Always thought I needed a car and a game missus to go blogging???? Turns out I don't!

Anyways here I am, the artist formally known as Craig is... The Facelifter! Yup, after months of deciding what to call my new Caricature Website/Blog/Business, thats what I've settled for. I've always wanted to be a "the" something!! (other than.... nah, I'll keep it clean for the first post)

The plan for this blog is to post my doodles, sketches, paintings & digital work and occasionally fire in some bits and pieces of entertaining tack from the web, just to keep it a bit more interesting.

My old webspace is still up so if you haven't already checked it out, click the link on the side there that says "Old Site". It probably wont be updated again but be sure to head back here for updates and info on the new official "Facelifter" site.
